I had a couple of scary days. I was found, put in a AC Shelter, rescued by a great Lady. The Lady got sick and ended up in the hospital. Now I just arrived at another Shelter. Only here they promised me I don't have to be afraid. They will find me a home with a great new family.

It's hard to be a little dog with a great heart. But to explain you why I am who I am, here is some history on my breed:

The Dachshund can be found in historical accounts dating back to the 15th, 16th and 17th centuries, when illustrations reflected badgers being hunted with dogs with elongated bodies, short legs and hound-type ears. The dogs of medieval Europe were noted to have the tracking ability of hounds and the proportions and temperament of terriers, much needed to pursue their main quarry of badgers.

In short words: I am a little dog with the nose and determination of a hound, the self-confidence and sometimes stubborn streak of a terrier; and the faithful & loving heart only a dog can offer.

With other words: I am a born, breed and life-time ....Teenager!

I will love you. I will know a thing or two better than you. I will have the last word here and there. I don't always remember how small I am. I have great manners, but do occasionaly do what suits me. I will talk back to you, when I feel like I should.

I am the largest amount of fun you can squeeze in one little dog!

I do request older children. But I get along great with most dogs and cats. I have good house manners and only complain a little in a crate. I am heartworm negative, UTD on shots and preventatives and will be neutered.

Every animal that comes into the CARA program is here because one or more events occurred  that led to this animal needing not only a home, but a person or family to love and protect them. Each animal has been loved and cared for by a small and determined group of people who want nothing more than to know each animal is safe for the rest of his or her life. Thank you for looking to adopt!
